You may be wondering, “What is Ekteino?” I used for the web page name of this site - Ekteino Exercise. The word Ekteino is the Greek word used in Philippians 3:13-15 and translated as “reaching forth.” The concept is of a runner leading forward toward the finish line as one might “press towards the mark [Goal] for the prize.” This concept of leading forward to the target or goal is beautiful and exemplifies the intent of my writing to help others reach their spiritual goal of being like Christ.
“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but thisone thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” (Empasis Added) – Philippians 3:13-15
I write books based on biblical principles.

The book covers 19 practical biblical steps to developing a disciplined mind.
Building a strong mind and preventing cognitive decline is a concern for most people today. Many are using such things as drugs, mental exercise, games, and physical exercise to help prevent cognitive impairment or to improve cognition. One overlooked approach is to follow what the Bible teaches us about the mind.
Why do we need a disciplined mind?
The answer to the question of why have a disciplined mind is answered by God in Isaiah 55:8-9 where it is written, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." These verses reveal two important things about our thoughts. First, God set a high standard for our thoughts, and our thoughts fall far short of that standard. Therefore, we need to think God's thoughts after Him. Secondly our thoughts lead to our ways or how we live. We desperately need a disciplined mind to follow the ways of truth and wisdom.
